The course will be held on September 20, 2026, at Cavalier Rifle and Pistol Club located at 14151 Boondock Lane, Montpelier, VA.
This course is a covers the basics of handgun safety especially for women, taught by a women instructor, Tracie Haggerty.
The course is being offered in cooperation with the Department of Wildlife Resources.
The course will start at 9:00 AM with classroom activities. The entire course will run 4 to 5 hours.
Cost of the clinic is $150.00

Course will cover:
- Gun safety rules
- Proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols
- Overview of ammunition and ammunition types
- Pistol selection and storage
- Shooting fundamentals
- Pistol maintenance
- Marksmanship
- Shooting range safety
Course will include live fire on an open range at Cavalier Rifle and Pistol Club.
This course will satisfy the training requirements for a concealed carry permit application in the state of Virginia.
Participants should bring their personal unloaded pistol to the range in a bag or a box with at least 50 rounds of factory ammunition appropriate for their pistol.
Participants will also need to bring eye and ear protection for the live fire portion of the class.
